Paul Smith and Artek have unveiled their newest collaboration ‘Artek Reimagined by Paul Smith’, which unifies each manufacturers’ iconic timeless design. Fastidiously created on the muse of performance, high quality, and seamless craftsmanship, Sir Paul Smith, who has been a long-time admirer of Artek founders’ Aino and Alvar Aalto’s work, integrates his playful color palette and signature stripes to create a daring new model of three of the Finnish furnishings maker’s notable items: Stool 60, Display screen 100, and Coat Rack 109, with every bit crafted in Finland.

The British designer, who is just not afraid of venturing out of the established order (as proven by the sunrise-inspired Gufram Cactus for his L.A retailer re-opening) and lives by his saying ‘you’ll find inspiration in all the pieces’, added a playful take to Artek’s Stool 60, a basic and undoubtedly recognisable piece of furnishings.
Nodding to Smith’s adoration of biking, he integrated a racing-style stripe – which is a trademark inside his designs and notably is available in 40 totally different colors – to the birch wooden body of the design signature. Narrowing down the color palette to only 4, the Stool 60 options vibrant poppy hues, and refined various wooden stains throughout the seat and the three legs. Beneath the seat, the underside is painted in an ultramarine blue, which displays a hue utilized in Paul Smith’s fits, and provides a playful quirk to a component which is usually neglected.

The second piece within the assortment is an adaptation of Display screen 100. Constructed from slender slats, every various in shades, naturally references the Paul Smith stripe fairly effortlessly.
