Studio Luca Guadagnino, led by the eponymous Italian movie director (and former Wallpaper* Design Awards Choose), made its debut at Fuorisalone 2022 with an set up centred across the hearth. Accanto al fuoco/By the hearth featured two distinctive lounge scenes impressed by the interiors of Carlo Scarpa, outlined by two magnetic hearth designs standing on reverse sides – one a stark object in ceppo di Grè Stone, the opposite a vibrant interpretation of the design fabricated from ceramic. That includes a collection of small columns on either side and a zig-zagged base, a smaller model of the ceramic hearth was initially conceived for Guadagnino’s own residence, and is characterised by a seemingly random association of hand-painted hues starting from pink to inexperienced and yellow.

‘I favored the concept of going again to one thing conventional, however with a spin that made it related for the current,’ explains Guadagnino of the Milan set up. ‘The idea of a lounge has modified in the identical means life has modified: simplified, articulated into one thing extra linear.’
For his painterly fireplace, he selected ceramic for its pictorial alternatives. ‘I favored the concept of a palette of colors that was provocative, of colors not instantly related with one another in keeping with present style,’ provides Guadagnino. ‘One thing that was anti-good style.’
