Hermès’ new Florence retailer is a haven of subtle design

A brand new Hermès retailer has opened on Through degli Strozzi in Florence. The house, which was designed by Rena Dumas Structure Intérieure (RDAI), below the inventive route of Denis Montel, replaces the Hermès retailer on Through Tuornabuoni, which has been residence to the model since 1991. The transfer displays the maison’s want for more room to show merchandise from its 16 metiers.

The Renaissance constructing that homes the brand new retailer dates again to 1578. Its new inside consists of many emblematic design particulars, together with the home’s ex-libris motif in metallic as you step inside; Hermès’ signature Faubourg sample on the ground; and Grecques lighting initially from the Paris flagship at 24 Faubourg Saint Honoré.

Flooring are completed in terrazzo, marble and marmorino and coated with vibrant handmade rugs. An elliptical staircase resulting in the primary ground is completed in Hermès leather-based. Glazed terracotta tiles line the wonder space; copper lacquer covers the ceiling; and stucco, marble and ribbed paper wallcoverings are rendered in refined colors – primarily terracotta and inexperienced. The home windows, made fully of straw by Milan-based designer Andrea Mancuso, depict the Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio and different Florentine monuments.

Elsewhere, a monumental billiards desk, made by Hermès’ bespoke division, Hermès Horizons, in Asnières, exterior Paris, is completed in inexperienced felt with a inexperienced lacquered base.
