Welcome to Hôtel Maniera, the design gallery’s new outpost in historic Villa Danckaert

Brussels design gallery Maniera has been selling design works by architects and designers for nearly a decade, since its founding in 2014 by Amaryllis Jacobs and Kwinten Lavigne. Working with the likes of Studio Mumbai, Piovenefabi, Christ and Gantenbein and Christoph Hefti, the gallery has been an everyday presence at worldwide design occasions, in the meantime providing design exhibitions throughout the town and in its central gallery area. 

In March 2023, Maniera unveils its new location; an artwork deco, Twenties villa within the coronary heart of Brussels, which turns into the start line for the gallery’s subsequent chapter. The villa was designed by Belgian architect Jean-Baptiste Dewin for industrial engineer Jean Danckaert. The home’s interiors and decorations had been created by the Ateliers d’Artwork De Coene.

Maniera’s inaugural present at Villa Danckaert takes over the home’s entrance rooms and veranda, its central function a bit from the ‘Pillow Talks’ sequence by Lukas Gschwandtner, juxtaposing metal platforms and buildings with giant pillows in off-white painter’s canvas. 

Elsewhere, a room is devoted to Georgia-based design studio Rooms, a brand new addition to the gallery’s roster and exhibiting right here a few of its best-known collections as it really works on the event of recent items for Maniera. 

The home’s kitchen turns into the gallery’s workplace, adorned with lighting by Stéphane Barbier Bouvet and an aluminium desk by Workplace Kersten Geers David Van Severen – a nod to the area’s utilitarian previous.
